Ben McCollum has stayed busy on the recruiting trail after a highly successful first season at Iowa.
McCollum has landed some big recruits this offseason in the 2026 and 2027 classes, such as Jaidyn Coon, Ethan Harris, and Keller Daugherty. While there’s still work to do in the 2027 and 2028 classes, McCollum is starting to look at the 2029 crop of talent. The Hawkeyes offered an up-and-coming forward on Sunday.
Noah Woods took to social media to announce he’s received an offer from Iowa. A Sioux Falls, S.D., native, Woods plays for Washington High School.
The 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward also plays on the Adidas 3SSB circuit with D1 Minnesota.
Iowa was one of the first teams to offer Woods. The Hawkeyes followed a June 24 offer from South Dakota State. Nebraska offered Woods on Monday evening. Woods is regarded as potentially the best prospect from South Dakota in the 2029 class. As he gets more tape out there, the offers will keep flooding in.
That’s why it’s so important that the Hawkeyes offered first. McCollum gets the first chance to make his pitch to Woods. While that doesn’t guarantee a commitment, it does give Iowa a leg up they might not have otherwise had. When going after highly-touted prospects, those small details can make all the difference.
McCollum has a knack for bringing elite recruits to Iowa City. He’ll try to do that again here with Woods.
