This seems like the new normal.
For the second game in a row, Caitlin Clark is listed on the Indiana Fever day-before injury report as probable with a back ailment.
All of this comes on the heels of last week’s uproar.
Clark missed the Fever’s May 20 date against the Portland Fire with a back injury, but the 6-foot superstar guard hadn’t been listed on the initial game status report for that contest. Instead, Clark was ruled out shortly before tipoff, prompting a warning from the WNBA for failure to report her injury status.
Fever head coach Stephanie White indicated before Indiana’s date at the Golden State Valkyries on Thursday that this would likely be the organization’s approach moving forward.
“I think the most important thing is, while we hope that what happened last week doesn’t happen again, just to make sure that there’s clarity and no issues with league policy, that we will,” White said on Thursday. “I think you can expect to see it probable going forward.”
