The 2026 Iowa high school boys tennis season wrapped up for individuals with the culmination of the state singles and doubles tournament on May 28.
The tournament brought with it elation and heartbreak, as only two individuals and two doubles teams were able to claim the title of state champion.
Here’s a rundown of the results of the action.
Iowa City High’s Will Feagler wins 2A individual title
Iowa City High sophomore Will Feagler took down Prairie sophomore Dylan Schulte in a tight three-set match, 6-3, 4-6, 11-9, to claim the state crown.
Linn-Mar senior Garrett Bauermeister earned third place after Waukee Northwest senior Maarten Beekhuis had to retire from the match.
Iowa City West team claims 2A doubles title
Iowa City West’s team of freshman Aryan Harwani and sophomore Pierce Hribar defeated Johnston’s duo of sophomores Aadil Patel and Srihari Kumaresan in a competitive 7-5, 7-5 match.
Mason City’s tandem of Seth VandenBerg and Trenton Kruger defeated Dowling Catholic’s team of Landon Cody and Ian Chapman in two sets, 7-5, 6-0, to claim third place.
Davenport Assumption’s Connor Feeham wins 1A singles title
Feeham, a freshman, got his career off to a hot start by taking home his first Iowa high school state tennis title on Thursday. He beat North Polk senior Easton Moon, 6-0, 6-1, in the finals to claim the championship.
Wahlert Catholic junior Cal Martineau took home third place with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Sergeant Bluff-Luton senior Tyler Grote.
Cedar Rapids Xavier duo claims 1A doubles title
Jacob Schmit and Charles LeGrand earned the state title with a 6-4, 6-2 performance over Wahlert Catholic’s duo of Jensen Hill and Evan Anderson on Thursday. That marked Schmit’s second doubles title in a row, while LeGrand will pair this doubles championship with the state singles title he won a season ago.
The Sergeant Bluff-Luton duo of Joe Wright and Brayton Ouellette claimed third place in a three-set thriller over Xavier’s team of Carson Sorg and Grant Golding, 6-3, 2-6, 10-7.
