Holy Cross transfer Brice Stevenson commits to Iowa football

IOWA CITY — Holy Cross transfer Brice Stevenson has committed to Iowa football, he announced Jan. 5.

The defensive lineman tallied 84 tackles combined across three seasons at FCS-level Holy Cross. Stevenson had 37 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in 2025, both of which were career-highs. He had a six-tackle performance against Lafayette in November.

Stevenson registered at least 17 tackles in each of his three seasons with the Crusaders.

The 6-foot-2, 300-pound interior defensive lineman has one season of eligibility remaining.

Stevenson gives Iowa help at a position of need. The Hawkeyes are losing a sizeable amount of production from last season with notable losses in Aaron Graves, Ethan Hurkett, Max Llewellyn and Jonah Pace. On top of that, Brian Allen hit the transfer portal.

With Allen’s departure, Bryce Hawthorne is the most established expected returner in the defensive line room. The Hawkeyes have a lot of unproven pieces in that room.  Kenneth Merrieweather, who was in the rotation last season, and Iose Epenesa, a former highly touted recruit, could be in line to take on bigger roles.

Stevenson gives Iowa depth and experience on the interior of the defensive line.

Stevenson is Iowa’s third commitment this transfer portal cycle. He joins Anthony Hawkins and Eli Ozick. Hawkins, a former Villanova defensive back, posted 59 tackles, two interceptions and one forced fumble as a redshirt freshman last season. Ozick, a former North Dakota State kicker, was 19-of-23 on field goals and 66-of-67 on extra points in his career with the Bison.
