Hinterland is getting bigger and bigger. The music festival just south of Des Moines is completing its newest expansion: a permanent outdoor stage.
The new stage is not the only thing that’s expanding Hinterland. The festival grounds are also expanding by 130 acres this year, bringing the entire site up to nearly 400 acres — making Hinterland one of the Midwest’s largest outdoor music sites. “This is an important step in Hinterland’s future,” said Sam Summers, founder of Hinterland Music Festival and owner of the festival grounds, in a news release. “From the beginning, our goal has been to build something lasting here — not just for one weekend, but for the long term.”

When is Hinterland 2026?
The Hinterland Music Festival will run from July 30 to Aug. 2 in 2026. This year, the festival has added Thursday to its typical three-day schedule.

How much are Hinterland tickets?
A four-day ticket to the festival starts at $365 for general admission access and goes as high as $1,520 for a VIP+ ticket, which includes a full-service bar, premium seating, an air-conditioned bathroom and more.
Prices will increase as the festival gets closer.
