Former Iowa women's basketball star reveals exciting personal news

As her rookie season with the Washington Mystics came to a close on Tuesday, former Iowa Hawkeyes star Lucy Olsen revealed on her numerous social media platforms that her personal and trademark slogan “Basketball is Fun” will have its own website with merchandise available for purchase.

Despite being the primary point guard during her 2024-25 season with the Hawkeyes, Olsen had to scrap for playing time throughout her rookie campaign with the Mystics. She came up big when given the opportunity, specifically in her season-high 19-point performance against Minnesota on July 3.

She finished the season averaging 4 points on 41.5% shooting from the field, 27.1% from 3-point territory and 82.4% from the free throw line, to go along with 1.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.4 steals, 0.1 blocks and 12:24 of playing time in 41 games.

During the announcement on Tuesday, the former Hawkeye explained the website launch is her next step in her journey with the slogan, and more merchandise will be coming soon.

As of Sept. 10, the available items include hoodies, T-shirts and sweatpants that feature a variety of designs with the “Basketball is Fun” wording.

With her rookie season completed, Olson plans to soon travel to the Land Down Under to compete for the Townsville Fire in the WNBL in Australia.
