Plans for the standalone store were approved by the Coralville City Council in March.

Pending delays, the restaurant is expected to open in the fall, though a construction and opening timeline has yet to be announced.

“We’re thrilled to expand our presence in the community and look forward to serving all of our Guests delicious food in an environment of genuine hospitality and care,” Chick-fil-A, Inc. said in an email to the Press-Citizen.

According to Coralville board documents, the restaurant will be 5,200 square feet, with indoor seating for 90 patrons and patio seating for 16. The building will have two drive-thru lanes and is expected to provide between 80 and 120 new jobs.

The standalone store will be Chick-fil-A’s second location in Coralville and 19th in Iowa, joining the one at the Coral Ridge Mall food court.

Chick-fil-A’s nearest standalone stores are in Cedar Rapids.
