Martensdale St. Marys softball player Ella Cassady was voted the Des Moines Register’s female Athlete of the Week from the Des Moines metro area for the week of July 5-11.
Cassady won female Athlete of the Week with 46% of the vote.
Cassady was the offensive sparkplug for the Martensdale St. Marys softball team during its 8-0 victory over Ankeny Christian in the 1A Region 3 semifinals on July 10 at Martensdale.
Cassady went 3-for-4 at the plate. She scored two runs, drove in a run and picked up one steal for the Blue Devils.
