Did you know… what is happening in this photo? This is a 1940s photo showing the railroad crossing at North 2nd Street near Osmundson today. The Dailey Bros. Circus that arrived by rail unloaded and had a parade of their animals down 2nd Street. Perry hosted many different circuses over the years. These visits became more infrequent as peoples’ entertainment sources changed. I remember going to the circus in Perry with my parents. My dad took me back behind the big tents, where the animals were kept. I remember that he brought a pail. He said the circus made money from every aspect of their visit to Perry. They sold animal poop from their animals. We went home with a pail of fresh lion poop.
