It may feel as though time is crawling by, awaiting the NCAA Tournament to arrive, but as soon as it gets here, it will be gone. As we pass the time, the predictions, picks, and analysis for the brackets are endless. One game that remains a tight one to pick involves the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Iowa had found itself in the always competitive and tough-to-predict No. 8 versus No. 9 game. The Hawkeyes sit at a No. 9 seed and are staring down a Friday night date against the No. 8-seeded Clemson Tigers from Tampa, Florida, in the first round.
With these two teams being viewed as incredibly similar, and even power-ranked one after another, the predictions for this game remain very split. ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas is taking the Hawkeyes, and is doing so due to the elite play from point guard Bennett Stirtz, a top player in the field of 68.
CBS Sports gathered six analysts and predicted the brackets in their entirety, and the group remains split on Iowa versus Clemson, with the Hawkeyes snagging four of the six picks.
Matt Norlander and Cameron Salerno see the ACC’s Clemson Tigers sending Ben McCollum and the Iowa Hawkeyes packing after one game in the NCAA Tournament.
Gary Parrish, David Cobb, Isaac Trotter, and Chip Patterson are all rolling with the Hawkeyes to knock off Clemson and advance to the second round against the No. 1-seeded Florida Gators. Unfortunately, the entire group sees Florida sending Iowa home and no upset happening.
