The Zionsville Police Department is investigating after a threat, that was deemed to be non-credible, disrupted the third day of school for students and staff at Zionsville Community High School on Aug. 6, according to information from the Town of Zionsville.
The police department received a call with threats to Zionsville Community High School in the morning, and public safety officials conducted a search of the school’s campus before determining the threat was not credible.
All Zionsville schools were put on perimeter lockdown, but teaching continued normally inside the middle and elementary schools. High school students remained in class and received updates from school leaders via the PA system
High school students were allowed to use their cell phones to communicate with their families when normal activities resumed and the search of the school was over. School districts across the state are adjusting to a new state law, that went into effect July 1, that bans student technology, like cellphones, for the entire school day with the exception of medical needs and emergencies.
The school district has asked anyone with information regarding the person responsible for the Aug. 6 lockdown, to contact the Zionsville Police Department at 317-873-5967.
