A UPS employee died in a shooting at an Indianapolis distribution facility.
Just before 10 p.m. Aug. 19, 2025, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a shooting at the shipping company’s facility at 5421 W. 81st St. on the city’s northwest side.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a La’Renzo Shamar Murray, 22, inside a vehicle in critical condition. He was taken to an area hospital, but died soon after arrival.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our employee. We defer to authorities for any additional information as there is an ongoing investigation,” a UPS spokesperson wrote.
No arrests or suspect details were released by police early Aug. 21.
Mail and package distribution facilities in central Indiana have been the site of multiple shootings in recent years. In April 2021, a mass shooting at the FedEx ground facility in Plainfield left eight dead. In December 2024, 39-year-old Isaac Riley was shot and killed at an Amazon warehouse in Greenfield. That shooting was later ruled to be a case of self-defense.
