It was a great start to the weekend for Notre Dame football as it land a priority 2027 recruit.
The Irish continue to have positive recruiting momentum going on Friday as the Irish landed four-star edge rusher Aidan O’Neil. The Don Brosco Prep standout chose Notre Dame over Kentucky and Penn State giving head coach Marcus Freeman’s program another blue-chip addition on the defensive front.
O’Neil, one of the top edge rushers in the 2027 class, had recently become viewed as Notre Dame-bound after an encouraging spring visit to South Bend. The 6-foot, 5-inch and 250-pound prospect said the Irish’s culture and coaching staff had made a strong impression, and his decision gives the Irish yet another highly-regarded building block to build around this recruiting cycle. He’s ranked as the No. 140 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite.
Scout say that O’Neil “should be viewed as an eventual three-down defensive end for a college football playoff team that can will his way to stops.”
The commitment fits the narrative that coach Freeman really has some great things brewing in South Bend. The Irish have already assembled a very strong 2027 class, and adding O’Neil will only bolster the class ranking and it is safe to say the Irish will continue to be aggressive in pursuing elite talent all over the country.
The Irish might not be done for the day either, as they have one of their priority quarterback targets set to announce his college decision later on Friday as well.
