Timeline: DuJuan McCoy's career led him from Indy to Texas and back

Circle City Broadcasting President and CEO DuJuan McCoy recently acquired his third Indianapolis television station, WRTV, giving him an unprecedented level of control over the city’s media market.

1985: Graduates from Ben Davis High School

1989: Graduates from Butler with a degree in business administration and starts as an account executive at WTTV-TV

2005: Becomes vice president and general sales manager for KRIV Fox 26 in Houston

2007: Terminated from KRIV. Participates in the National Association of Broadcast Leadership Foundation. Establishes Bayou City Broadcasting.

2008: Acquires seven small TV stations in Texas from Sage Broadcasting Corp. for roughly $3 million

2012: Bayou City Broadcasting announces the sale of seven Texas stations to London Broadcasting Company reportedly for $18.2 million

2015: Bayou City Broadcasting purchases CBS and Fox affiliates in Evansville for $18.6 million

2017: Bayou City Broadcasting buys Fox and NBC affiliates as well as MyNetwork station in Lafayette, Louisiana for $40 million

2019: McCoy sells Bayou City Broadcasting to Allen Media Broadcasting for $165 million and launches Circle City Broadcasting to purchase WISH-TV and WNDY-TV from Nexstar for $42.5 million

2020: McCoy sues AT&T U-verse, DirecTV and Dish for withholding retransmission consent fees.

2025: More than 20 WISH-TV employees are let go after not receiving new contract offers or failing to sign a new contract addendum with an expanded non-compete clause

February 2026: FCC waives local ownership rule allowing McCoy to own more than two broadcast stations in one market

March 2026: Circle City Broadcasting and E.W. Scripps close WRTV deal for $83 million and more than 60 WRTV employees are laid off
