This barn is slated for demolition. Help save a part of our history | Opinion

My name is Keaton Loyd. I am an eighth grader at The Stanley Clark School here in South Bend. I ama Boy Scout in Troop 572 and I love to camp and explore Potato Creek State Park.

I am writing this letter because there is an issue at the park. This issue is the big red barn, called the Naragon Barn, that is going to be torn down for the new inn that is being built on Lake Worster. The barn was built in 1908 and it’s a memorable landmark at the park. When the park was created in 1977 there were families that lived there. The barn serves as a tribute to those families and a reminder of our history.

Please help save the Naragon Barn by contacting the director of the Indiana State Parks, Mr. Brandt Baughman, and local and state government officials. Tell them we can save the barn and not to tearit down. With your support together we can make a difference!

The list goes on

Democracy in this country is disappearing. Why?

Because Trump is spewing hate from the White House.

Trying to take away freedom of speech.

Cut funds off for public radio and television stations.

Cut funds from universities that he has a personal vendetta against.

Immigration enforcement is out of hand.

Sending National Guard troops where they are not needed.

If you live in a Democratic city or state, you will feel the wrath of Trump.

And the list goes on.
