Podcasters Áine Cain and Kevin Greenlee have co-authored a book detailing the Delphi, Indiana, killings of Libby German and Abby Williams, the investigation into the girls’ death and the arrest, trial and conviction of Richard Allen, the man convicted of killing the teens.
The husband/wife duo behind The Murder Sheet, a podcast that followed the Delphi killings of Libby and Abby, have written “Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland.” The bridge refers to the Monon High Bridge and the area of the Feb. 13, 2017, abduction and murders.
The book looks at haunting questions
“Shadow of the Bridge: The Delphi Murders and the Dark Side of the American Heartland” offers more detail than what was shared on the authors’ popular The Murder Sheet podcast, answering many of the questions that have haunted so many since the deaths, according to a news release.
The authors worked with Libby and Abby’s families, the release said, and the book recounts the girls’ promising future and those who cared for them.
The authors also delve into the investigation that seemed stalled until October 2022, when police arrested Allen, a photo tech from a local pharmacy.
The book explores the small, rural community’s uncertainty over whether its county officials could successfully prosecute the case. Many question whether police arrested the right man.
“Investigators, officials, prosecutors, and the defense attorneys found themselves stuck in an unprecedented firestorm of online controversy and subterfuge, with so-called internet sleuths hyping up conspiracy theories and trading leaks,” the news release from the book’s publisher states.
The book is published by Pegasus Crime and is due out on Aug. 26. It will be available to buy online, in bookstores and retail stores.
