The Indianapolis Fire Department is fighting a fire at a recycling facility south of downtown.
Fire crews were called to OmniSource, 2115 South West St., for a fire just before 4 p.m. Sept. 8, 2025, according to online Indianapolis police and fire response data. A plume of smoke was visible from downtown.
Firefighters on scene said a pile of tires was burning when they arrived. They did not say what caused the fire.
Crews were seen beginning to pack up fire equipment shortly after 5 p.m.
OmniSource operates close to 70 scrap collection and processing facilities in the U.S. and Mexico, according to its website. The company was founded in Fort Wayne.
