Congratulations to Roncalli’s Elliot Leffler on being voted Preseason Player of the Year! Leffler averaged 17.3 points on 40% shooting. She also clocked 5.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2 steals per contest for the semistate runner-up Royals.
Here were the top performers from the past week.
Jillian Barr, Delta
The senior collected a double-double in a 67-22 rout of Muncie Central, dropping 23 points on 77% shooting and 10 rebounds. She also registered nine steals and three assists.
Te’Asia Briscoe, Purdue Poly Englewood
Briscoe notched 17 points, 10 steals, four rebounds and four blocks vs. Phalen; 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks vs. Columbus East and notched 17 points against Brebeuf Jesuit.
McKenzie Chapman, Zionsville
The junior tallied 14 points and dished out seven assists in a win over Crispus Attucks. Friday, she went for 12 points, another seven assists, plus six rebounds in a win over Kokomo.
Elise Coleman, Floyd Central
The Highlanders senior cleared 1,000 career points with a turnaround jumper vs. Evansville Harrison. She finished with a game-high 24 points.
Janaya Cooper, Fort Wayne Snider
Cooper logged 20 points and seven rebounds in a narrow 51-47 loss to Warsaw. She totaled 22 points across two games at a Lake Central event Saturday, scoring 16 points on 7-of-15 shooting vs. Hammond Central and six points on 3-of-7 shooting vs. McCutcheon. She racked up 22 rebounds, five steals, three assists and three blocks in the three games.
Brooklyn Crim, New Palestine
Crim capped a 19-point performance vs. Brebeuf Jesuit with the game-winning 3-point play with 4.7 seconds left in regulation. The sophomore accounted for nine of New Palestine’s 12 fourth-quarter points in the 43-41 win. She went 8-for-6 for eight points and blocked three shots in a rout of Batesville.
Grace Goldman, North Harrison
The 5-11 senior forward/guard notched a double-double in a 74-63 loss to South Central (Elizabeth), picking up 31 points and 11 rebounds. Goldman also tallied two assists, three steals and three blocks.
Ady Kircher, Northeastern
Kircher kicked off her senior campaign with 33 points in a 70-53 triumph over Adams Central. The Knights are off until Nov. 13 at Yorktown.
Khloee Kirk, Eminence
Kirk helped orchestrate a three-point win over Clay City, picking up 22 points on 9-of-22 shooting. She also pulled in three rebounds and blocked two shots. She had seven points, seven assists and nine steals in a rout of Indiana Math & Science.
Keara Lipscomb-Allen, McCutcheon
Lipscomb-Allen kicked off her season with 27 points, seven rebounds, an assist and a block in a 58-56 loss to Plainfield on Wednesday. She had a run of 15 consecutive made free throws and finished the game 15-for-16.
Madelynn Matelic, Speedway
The sophomore guard dropped a game-high 24 points on 53% shooting (40% from 3) in a 67-60 win over Western Boone. Matelic also tallied eight boards, four assists, a couple blocks and four deflections.
Harper Moore, Beech Grove
The junior marked her return to the floor with a double-double, picking up 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 41-39 win over Indian Creek. She also dished out a couple assists.
Brynn Owens, Austin
The senior dropped 31 points with six 3s against Jennings County on Saturday. That performance was preceded by a 20-point, 10-assist double-double.
Arianna Rowell, South Bend Saint Joseph
The freshman point guard scored 32 points on 10 field goals (four 3-pointers) in a four-point loss to Fremont. Rowell also tallied six rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Izzy Silcox, Greenfield-Central
After scoring 16 points on 5-of-12 shooting vs. Lapel, Silcox drilled seven shots for 21 points in a 49-42 overtime win over Martinsville. She totaled 13 rebounds, six assists and five steals for the week.
La’starr Williams, Warren Central
The 5-8 sophomore went for 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting in a loss to Brownsburg. She pulled in five rebounds and picked up three steals. Williams notched 26 points (seven 3-pointers), three rebounds and a couple assists vs. Fort Wayne South.
Laniah Wills, Lapel
Wills opened her season by dropping 44 points on 19-of-25 shooting with only two 3-pointers and four free throws in a 61-38 win over Greenfield-Central. She pulled in 16 rebounds, dished out four assists, blocked a shot and picked up five steals. The Butler commit notched another double-double with 26 points, 12 rebounds and four steals vs. University.
