The National Weather Service is monitoring for the possibility of severe storms Sunday evening in the Tri-State.
Here’s a quick look at what forecasters are saying.
What time is severe weather possible in the Evansville and Henderson areas?
In a briefing issued Sunday, forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Paducah, Kentucky, said the most likely time for severe weather in the Evansville and Henderson areas is between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. Sunday evening.
A few isolated storms are possible before then, but the main threat is later in the evening.
What kinds of severe weather are possible?
The weather service says the primary hazards Sunday evening are damaging winds and large hail. However, a few tornadoes are also possible.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch Sunday afternoon for areas just west of Evansville − including Posey County, Indiana, and much of Southern Illinois − that continues until 9 p.m. Central time.
Heavy rain also a concern
The National Weather Service says heavy rain is also a concern. Multiple rounds of storms hitting the same locations could cause localized flooding issues. More than an inch of rain is expected.
A flood watch is in effect for areas in Southern Illinois and Southwestern Indiana through Monday morning.
