It’s been a controversial week for the Indiana Fever. A dust-up involving Caitlin Clark resulting in five technical fouls. A WNBA 30th anniversary commemorative poster featuring some NBA greats, but not Tamika Catchings or Clark. Another situation involving Clark and Phoenix’s Alyssa Thomas resulting in a suspension.
Thank goodness Sophie Cunningham provided a little humor.
The Fever player inserted herself into the initial Clark situation on Monday night, repeatedly pointing at Mercury veteran DeWanna Bonner, who briefly played for the Fever last season. Bonner pointed back and yelled at Cunningham.
Cunningham’s pointing has launched an avalanche of memes, including references to backseat drivers, “The Simpsons,” “Spider-Man,” dog behavior, grocery shopping, restaurant slights, football, and so much more. Even a dictionary got involved.
