The Indianapolis Colts reportedly worked out former UCLA running back Jalen Berger on Thursday, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
Berger played six college seasons, spending two years at Wisconsin, two years at Michigan State, and the previous two years at UCLA.
He went undrafted this year and has not yet caught on with a team. Berger did take part in Seattle’s rookie minicamp as a tryout candidate.
What to know about RB Jalen Berger
Berger is listed at 6-1 and weighs 215 pounds. In this most recent season, he carried the ball 81 times for 355 yards, averaging 4.4 yards per attempt with two scores. His most productive year on the ground came in 2022 with Michigan State, when he rushed for 678 yards and six touchdowns.
Berger has 63 career targets in the passing game, 26 of which came over the last two seasons, according to PFF. He has minimal special teams experience.
Colts’ running back depth chart
As of now, no signing has been reported. Throughout the offseason and even into the season, it’s fairly common for teams to have players in for workouts to build out a list of potential options in case an addition has to be made at some point.
The Colts seemed to be in good shape at running back from a talent and numbers standpoint. Jonathan Taylor will lead the way, DJ Giddens and Seth McGowan will compete for the RB2 role, while Jordon Vaughn is an intriguing UDFA.
Also on the roster is Lincoln Pare, another UDFA addition, and Ulysses Bentely, who spent last season on the practice squad.
