RICHMOND, IN — A Richmond man is accused of entering his cousin’s home after throwing a cinder block through a window and then attacking her.
Ofny Andres Morales Sales, 23, is charged in Wayne Circuit Court with burglary, a Level 3 felony carrying up to 16 years in prison, and domestic battery, a Level 5 felony with a maximum 30-month sentence.
According to an affidavit, Sales forcibly entered his cousin’s home along South 12th Street shortly after 5 a.m. on April 12.
Once inside, he allegedly grabbed his cousin’s neck with both hands. She told police she responded by kicking him and then fleeing.
The woman’s young daughter witnessed the attack, the court document said.
His accuser said Sales was “bleeding heavily” from his arms, apparently the result of climbing in through the shattered window. Richmond police collected blood samples at the scene.
Sales, arrested on April 18, was being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
He has received a July 21 trial date.
According to court documents, Sales has been previously convicted of residential entry and battery resulting in bodily injury.
