PORTLAND, IN — One person was killed on Tuesday, July 14, in a crash at Indiana 1 and Jay County Road 400 South.
According to Indiana State Police, the crash — involving a dump truck and a van — was reported shortly before 6 a.m.
Investigators believe the van was traveling eastbound on County Road 400 South and failed to yield to the dump truck, driving north on Indiana 1.
“At this time, we are not identifying those involved until we have more information,” an ISP news release issued late Tuesday morning said.
State police were assisted at the scene by Jay County sheriff’s deputies, Redkey police and firefighters, and EMS personnel from Dunkirk and Portland.
