A new restaurant will be opening in late July or August in the space that once housed Small Favors, at 402 1/2 W. Sixth St.
Nicole Schoemann, owner of Planted Bloomington, is excited about opening a brick-and-mortar space in Bloomington. When contacted recently she was busy setting up the menu and all the other necessary details.
Schoemann said that a recent Herald-Times article said a new outdoor sauna type business would be locating in the former restaurant. However, that business will take up the portion of 402 W. Sixth St. that was not the restaurant. The currently pink portion will become the restaurant; the green portions of the building will be the other business.
It’s the most eastward portion of the building, closest to Bloomingfoods West, that will become the restaurant.
Planted Bloomington’s food truck opened in September 2023. The food truck was an outgrowth of Goat Conspiracy, a goat farm creamery in Brown County. That farm is now an animal sanctuary. The property also has a commercial kitchen that prepares all the cuisine for the food truck and catering, Schoemann said.
The restaurant’s food will be planted-based, just as the food truck’s, Schoemann said, but the menu will be different — at least most of it. She explained that even though the food is plant-based, it will appeal to all, not just vegans. “It’s plant-based food that everybody likes,” she said.
When the restaurant first opens, it will serve brunch and lunch. Hours will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. After a few months, Schoemann anticipates adding dinner on Friday through Sunday.
One menu item that will be offered at both the food truck and the restaurant is ice cream. Schoemann’s excited about the restaurant offering a dipping cabinet for the ice cream.
The restaurant will offer grab-and-go options for people who can’t stay as well as tables for seating customers. The building already has a walk-up window, which will be used for people who don’t want to venture inside.
Patrons of the Planted Bloomington food truck don’t have to worry — it will still be operating at various events and locations, although there may be fewer appearances.

Linton’s Sportsmans Pub has reopened
Storms and tornadoes seem to becoming something more common in the Hoosier state, not only in the spring and summer but occasionally in the colder months as well.
In fact, just a few days before the latest round of tornadoes dotted the Indiana landscape, one of downtown Linton’s restaurants celebrated its grand reopening after renovations were complete. Sportmans Pub was one of the downtown businesses impacted by the tornado that tore through the Greene County community on Dec. 28, 2025. The tornado caused significant damage to the restaurant at 54 N. Main St.
Although some of the walls are new, the menu has stayed the same, offering Hoosier fare including catfish, steaks, smoked pork chops, shrimp, vegetable soup, ham and beans, sweet potato fries, chili, cowboy baked beans and a wide choice of homemade desserts.
The restaurant’s grand reopening was Thursday, June 18, and business was booming when it first opened at 4 p.m. that day. A waitress was courteous but unable to talk to a reporter just after opening because of the crowds at the tables.
The day after the grand reopening, Sportsmans Pub was offering a Friday night special with a 12-ounce ribeye steak with two sides for $20. Sides at the restaurant include grilled corn, mashed potatoes with brown gravy, macaroni salad, green beans, spiced apples and mac and cheese.
It’s not only the menu that’s the same: Hours at Sportsmans Pub are 4-9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For carry-out orders, call 812-847-8759.
