MUNCIE, IN — Two men, one from New Castle and the other from Van Buren, have been charged in recent days with dealing in meth.
Rusty Lynn York Jr., 59, of New Castle, was arrested on June 24 after members of the Henry County Area Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a home in the 2500 block of Greenview Avenue. An officer reported the home had been the target of “complaints of drug activity.”
An affidavit indicated York was taken into custody after he emerged from a camper on the property and tried to run away.
Plastic bags containing meth and fentanyl were recovered from the camper, according to the court document, along with paraphernalia including a set of digital scales and glass smoking pipes.
York has been charged in Henry Circuit Court 2 with dealing in meth, a Level 3 felony carrying up to 16 years in prison, and maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony with a maximum 30-month sentence.
He was also charged with dealing in meth, in the same court, in April. His trials in both cases are set for Oct. 26.
York was being held in the Henry County Jail on Monday, July 13, under a $40,000 surety bond and a $4,000 cash bond.
According to court records, he has been convicted of crimes including burglary, dealing in a controlled substance, forgery, theft and visiting a common nuisance.
In Blackford Circuit Court in Hartford City, Frederick G. Aldred Jr., 61 — of Van Buren in eastern Grant County — was charged last week with dealing in meth, a Level 2 felony with a maximum 30-year sentence.
A sheriff’s deputy reported he pulled over a car driven by Aldred after it crossed the center line while traveling in northeastern Blackford County on the early morning of July 8.
An affidavit said the Van Buren man was determined to be carrying 15 grams of meth. The deputy also said text messages on Aldred’s phone indicated he intended to participate in a drug deal.
Aldred was also charged with possession of meth, a Level 3 felony, and possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
His record includes Huntington County convictions for dealing in cocaine, battery and intimidation.
