The kitchen is closed for good at Louisville-based LouVino on Mass Ave., as the Southern-inspired restaurant and wine bar poured its last glass Sept. 6.
A note posted to the eatery’s door on the ground floor of the Penrose on Mass building at 530 Massachusetts Ave. thanked customers for a six-year run that ended with little fanfare last weekend. The message, attributed to LouVino staff, did not provide a specific reason for the closure.
“After six wonderful years of serving the Indianapolis community, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors,” the note read. “We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all our patrons, team and partners who have supported us throughout this journey.”
LouVino, which was founded in 2014 by pharmacists-turned-restaurateurs Chad and Lauren Coulter, serves upscale bistro fare with a lean toward American Southern flavors, plus an extensive wine list sourced from around the globe.
The mini-chain first hit the Indianapolis area in 2016 with its location in Fishers’ Nickel Plate District; the Mass Ave outpost followed in February 2019. In 2020 Louisville-based restaurant group Endeavor purchased the LouVino brand and three years later closed LouVino’s Fishers location, replacing it shortly thereafter with a steakhouse and bourbon lounge called Cooper and Cow.
LouVino still has two locations, one in Louisville and one in Cincinnati.
