LAFAYETTE, IN — A fight on the basketball court at VASA Fitness led to one man’s arrest for pulling a gun, Lafayette police said.
Giovanni J. Hendricks, 21, homeless in West Lafayette, was fighting with a 23-year-old man about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on the basketball court at the facility in the 3800 block of South Street, police said.
Hendricks pulled a pistol and continued the fight while brandishing the gun, police said.
The 23-year-old man suffered facial injuries and was taken to a Lafayette hospital for treatment, police said.
Hendricks left before police arrived, but he later turned himself in at the police department, police said.
Officers jailed Hendricks on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, intimidation, pointing a firearm and obstruction of justice, according to jail records.
Hendricks remained incarcerated Wednesday morning without bond, according to jail records.
