No Caitlin Clark. No Angel Reese. Sunday’s nationally televised matchup was missing its two headliners. In fact, the Sky were missing five players, including three starters. And yet the Fever seemed intent on making hard work of playing a team 10 games under .500 with so many players missing.
Indiana led by as many as 16 in the first half, but then let the Sky trim it down to two in the third quarter. Alas, the Fever (14-12) righted the ship and were able to put the Sky away, 93-78, thanks to a big day from Kelsey Mitchell, who finished with a season-high 35 points (her career-high is 38 in 2019).
Rookie Makayla Timpson scored a career-high 14 points and newly acquired Chloe Bibby added eight points off the bench in her Fever debut.
Rachel Banham led the Sky (7-18) with 26 points.
