WEDNESDAY, May 27

Class 4A, Sectional 13 at Bloomington South

Terre Haute North 12, Terre Haute South 4: The Patriots (20-5) broke it open with a five-run fourth inning for an 8-0 lead to put away their rivals and earn a date vs. Bloomington North in the semis on Monday. Brayden Dean had a big day, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs while Nathan Lamaster had a homer and three RBIs, Parker Higham was 3-for-3. Jacob Norton (6-2) went 5⅓. The Braves finish 8-16.

Class 4A, Sectional 15 at Bedford North Lawrence

Floyd Central 9, New Albany 1: Highlanders (18-8) limit Bulldogs (16-12) to just two hits.

Bedford North Lawrence 6, Silver Creek 1: Cutler Chastain (4 innings) and Maddox Garrison combined on a two-hitter with 15 strikeouts to handcuff the Dragons (16-11). The Stars (14-9) took a 4-1 lead after four innings as Grady Dalton drove in two runs.

Class 3A, Sectional 27 at Northview

Cascade (13-8) vs. Edgewood (11-9), PPD, Thursday

Northview (14-8) vs. Indianapolis Washington (0-6), PPD, Thursday

Class 2A, Sectional 46 at Mitchell

Salem 7, Clarksville 1: Jayden Arnold struck out 10 and gave up just three earned runs, but his Generals (7-15) couldn’t score until the seventh as Salem (13-11) prevailed.

Paoli 9, Crawford County 4: The Rams (13-9) trailed 3-1 after three before a five-run fourth gave them the lead for good. Paoli had just five hits, but two were triples, and it drew 12 walks. Cooper Spires (4IP) got the win. Wolfpack finish 3-22.

Class 2A, Sectional 47 at Linton

Eastern Greene 3, South Knox 0: The T-Birds (11-13) got great pitching from Chaz Perry (5 IP, 6 hits, 2 walks, 10 strikeouts) and Saxton Pennycuff (save, 3 strikeouts) to post their first postseason win since 2017. Perry also drove in two runs and Trevor Stogsdill had the other RBI. Eastern Greene will play West Vigo in the semifinals on Monday. Spartans finish 10-15.

THURSDAY, May 28

Class 3A, Sectional 27 at Northview

Cascade 9, Edgewood 1: The Mustangs (11-10) generated just two hits as the Cadets (14-8) pulled away early against Anthony Shields and rolled into the semifinals. Cascade batters fanned 14 times, but sophomore hurlers Cort Hubner and Brayden Cravens were too much. Cascade took a 3-0 lead in the third before Edgewood got a run back in the top of the fourth. It stayed that way until a six-run sixth.

Northview 7, Indianapolis Washington 0, Forfeit. Win sends Knights (15-8) to semis as Continentals (0-7) fail to show.

Class 2A, Sectional 47 at Linton

North Knox 3, Linton 2: Warriors (12-9) score winning run in the bottom of the seventh to oust Miners (6-10).

Sullivan 5, Barr-Reeve 3 (11 innings): Arrows (20-3) knock off No. 4 Barr-Reeve (23-5) in extra innings. Jaden Norris went 4-for-6 and got the win in 6⅓ innings of relief.

FRIDAY, May 31

Class 3A, Sectional 27 at Northview

Northview 4, Cascade 3: Mason Walters’ RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning off sophomore TJ Turner lifted the Knights (16-8) into the title game. Northview led 3-0 after three, but the Cadets (14-9) tied it in the the fifth.

Owen Valley 6, Speedway 2 (8 inn.): The Patriots (6-10) had just four hits, but got clutch pitching from Grady Bough and Braxton Miller to beat Speedway in the sectional opener for the second year in a row. Speedway, which committed eight errors, trailed 2-0 after two before scoring twice in the bottom of the seventh off Bough before Miller got out of a bases loaded jam with one out by striking out the next two batters. He sat the Sparkplugs (7-17) down in order in the eighth after OV scored four times. None of the six runs were earned. OV’s eighth started with a hit batter. Then came an error, RBI single by Wyatt Harmon, a fielder’s choice RBI by Brody Koch, who scored on a passed ball, two walks and a bases loaded HBP (Parker Greene).

SATURDAY, May 30

Class 4A, Sectional 15 at Bedford North Lawrence

Bedford North Lawrence 2, Floyd Central 1: Cam Gates scattered six hits, walked five and struck out eight and went 4-for-4 with an RBI to keep the Highlanders (18-9) in check in an upset win. The Stars (15-9) scored single runs in the third and fourth innings before FC could answer in the sixth. BNL had 10 hits as Jackson Jones also went 2-for-4 and Culter Chastain had the other RBI. The Stars will go after their first sectional title since 2017.

Jeffersonville 16, Seymour 0: The Red Devils (14-10) advance to final. Owels finish 12-12.

Class 2A, Sectional 46 at Mitchell

Salem 1, Paoli 0: The Lions (14-11) made a lone run in the fifth standup. Tyler Hannon went all seven for Paoli (13-10), giving up seven hits, but the Rams had just four.

Eastern Pekin 2, Mitchell 1: The Musketeers (10-11) scored the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to move on. Sophomore Parker Reeve went the distance for the Bluejackets (9-13) but he was outdueled by a pair of freshmen, as Reese Lindley went 6⅓ innings, giving up five hits and no earned runs while Alton Swartz picked up in the win in relief. Mitchell scored in the first and Eastern tied it in the fourth.

MONDAY, June 1

Class 4A, Sectional 13 at Bloomington South

Bloomington South 10, Martinsville 0 (5 inn.): Connor Couch tossed a two-hitter and smashed a grand slam to boot as the Panthers (19-6) roared into the title game. South scratched out its first three runs off Notre Dame-bound Artesian starter Rhys Wolf, scoring in the first without a hit as Max Surdam walked, stole second, was balked to third and scored on a dropped third strike. Boston Held was hit by pitch adn scored on Blake Azcui’s RBI single in the second. And in the third, Reid Walker singled and scored on Luke Arnett’s hit. But then the Panthers exploded for seventh in the bottom of the fifth to end it early. With one out, Walter doubled and two walks followed before Couch hammered a 2-1 pitch well over the fence in left to chance Wolf. A single and walk with two outs led to Jonathan Winstead’s walk-off three- run shot. Couch fanned nine with only 62 pitches. Martinsville finishes up 2-24.

Bloomington North 5, Terre Haute North 0: Luke Freel scattered four hits and struck out 10 to lead the Cougars (18-8) into the final. North had nothing to show for after the first 11 at-bats, but kept putting the ball in play and used a good eye at the plate to break through. In the third, consecutive base hits by Elio Miller, Liam Smith and Rudy Barton (3-for-4) before Conor Steele drew a bases-loaded walk off Jacob Norton to open the scoring. In the fourth, Freel singled with a runner at second, who was gunned down at the plate. No matter, Zach Sipes singled to right and Freel sped around from second to make it 2-0. It fell apart for the Patriots (20-6) in the sixth after going to the bullpen, committing three errors. With two outs, pinch hitter Gabe Cohen hit a high hopper to third, but the throw went well wide, allowing Burton and Steele to scoot around the bases. Cohen then scored with two outs when a ball was mishandled at first.

Championship, Bloomington South 3, Bloomington North 2 (8 innings).

Class 4A, Sectional 15 at Bedford North Lawrence

Championship, Jeffersonville 5, Bedford North Lawrence 1: Red Devils (15-10) took the lead for good with a three-run third and outhit the Stars (15-10), 10-6.

Class 3A, Sectional 27 at Northview

Championship, Northview 10, Owen Valley 0: Jackson Pierce tossed a shutout to lead the Knights (17-8) to the title. Northview took a 3-0 lead by the third and expanded it to 7-0 in the fifth. OV finishes 6-11.

Class 2A, Sectional 46 at Mitchell

Championship, Salem 8, Eastern (Pekin) 2.

Class 2A, Sectional 47 at Linton

West Vigo 10, Eastern Greene 1: The Vikings (18-10) kept the T-Birds (11-14) in check on a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts. Chaz Perry had two of the hits, but West Vigo was able to take a 4-0 lead after three off Perry, who fanned six and gave up four hits. Only five of the 10 runs were earned.

Sullivan 7, North Knox 4: Hunter Mason and Jaden Norris homered for the Arrows (21-3).

Championship, Sullivan 6, West Vigo 1.
