Former Mustang selected as new Edgewood High School principal

The Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corp. announced Friday, May 1, that it has selected a new principal for Edgewood High School, pending approval by the Board of School Trustees on May 19.

Robert Boltinghouse has been recommended by Superintendent Jerry Sanders for the post. A news release from Sanders said Boltinghouse “brings a strong background in educational leadership, a commitment to student success, and a passion for fostering a positive school culture.”

Boltinghouse is a 1998 graduate of Edgewood High School, earned a bachelor of science degree from Indiana State University and a master’s degree from Indiana University. He is currently working on his Education Specialist (Ed.S.) Degree at Indiana State University.

Boltinghouse has 22 years of experience in education, the news release said, serving for the past seven years as principal of Owen Valley High School.

“Robert Boltinghouse is a collaborative and results-driven executive with over a decade of secondary administrative leadership experience. He has demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, fiscal stewardship, instructional systems alignment, personnel development, school safety, and community engagement,” the news release said.

The RBB school board is expected to consider Boltinghouse for the principal position at its May 19 meeting. Upon approval, Boltinghouse will officially begin his role on July 1.

Boltinghouse is expected to replace Dirk Ackerman as principal. Ackerman is retiring after 39 years in education.
