The block party is free and welcomes children of all ages. The 100 through 300 blocks of South Michigan Street will close to traffic for live music, food vendors, face painting, balloon artists, community programming and other activites.

Some activites include:

● First Tee will offer free, introductory “golf experiences” and lawn games at the Gridiron Plaza.

● Live music is at the main stage, where Brian Mach will perform, and The Music Village Community Jammers will play under the State Theatre marquee.

● The Studebaker Car Club show will be at the 200 block.

● At the 300 block, the St. Joseph County Public Library begins the Summer Reading Program. Those who sign up for the program receive a tote bag and a free book from hundreds of titles.

● For $5 per family, children can meet princess performers Ariel, Belle and Cinderella as well as Marvel superheroes Capitan America and Spiderman.

● At the South Bend Chocolate Café, Abracadabra Magic will perform “up-close illusions” starting at 6:30 p.m.

The block party is from 5 to 9 p.m. Parking is free after 5 p.m. in city-owned parking garages. A full map of parking options is available online at https://www.downtownsouthbend.com/parking.

Earlier in the day, the Morris Performing Arts Center’s Fridays by the Fountain summer lunchtime concert series begins with a performance by RockDogs from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Jon R. Hunt Plaza, 211 N. Michigan St.
