Colts' RB DJ Giddens picked to record obscure stat line in 2026

Indianapolis Colts’ second-year running back DJ Giddens was picked to end the 2026 season with an obscure stat line.

With it being 100 days until the 2026 NFL season kicks off, several of ESPN’s NFL analysts covered a variety of topics, including breakout second-year players, fantasy sleepers, and must-watch games.

But along with those topics and others, the article concluded with Ben Solak saying this about Giddens:

“One player will end this season with exactly 100 rushing yards and it will be … Colts running back DJ Giddens.”

In his rookie year, Giddens had a small role within the Colts’ offense, often inactive on game days during the second half of the season.

Although Giddens was a very productive ball carrier at Kansas State, he needed to improve in the passing game, particularly in pass protection at the NFL level.

“We think Giddens will take another step,” Ballard said during his pre-draft press conference.

Jonathan Taylor will again shoulder the bulk of the workload at running back, but Giddens will presumably be competing with rookie Seth McGowan for the backup role this season.
