Local residents graduate from Amazon's Work Based Learning Program

NEW CARLISLE — Amazon is celebrating its first graduating class of more than 50 local residents, with no prior technology background, from its Work Based Learning Program.

The Work Based Learning Program is a part of Amazon’s Future Ready 2030 initiative, a $2.5 billion investment to prepare 50 million people worldwide for the future of work through skills training, according to a press release sent to local media by Amazon. The program will recruit directly from local high schools, colleges and community members in northern Indiana.

The first graduating students in New Carlisle were trained in machine learning and data center operations, and following their graduation on June 3, Amazon will have a ribbon cutting for its new Campus Administration Building.

Located at the New Carlisle data center campus, the Campus Administration Building will serve as a training center built to develop the next generation of data center and machine learning professionals, according to the press release.

The Campus Administration Building is a part of Amazon’s continued investment, the company said, in training local workers and creating career pathways in technical fields, built inside a data center campus that the community has been watching from the outside for two years.
