ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler compiled his ranking of the NFL’s top edge rushers entering the 2026 season and briefly mentioned was the Indianapolis Colts’ Laiatu Latu.
These rankings, however, aren’t based on Fowler’s opinion. Rather, NFL execs, coaches, and scouts are the ones who have the say as voters. Interviews, research, and film study by analyst Matt Bowen also factor into the equation.
Once compiled, Fowler then builds out the top 10 list, the honorable mentions, and at the end, is a category for those who received votes — that’s where Latu’s name appeared.
So of the 70 voters who put their top 10 lists together, at least one had Latu ranked. Although we do not know the specifics of how many votes Latu received.
In Year 2, Latu’s production took a big jump. He went from totaling 38 pressures as a rookie to 61 this past season, which ranked as the 15th-most among his position group. Latu also totaled 8.5 sacks.
Latu has always brought impressive bend and burst to the defensive end position, but to help faciliate that next step, this offseason he’s focused on adding more muscle to help with his power game.
Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo believes that Latu can hit the double-digit sack mark this season, and that would help him move up in the 2027 rankings.
