Colts DC Lou Anarumo describes rookie LB CJ Allen with one key word

The Indianapolis Colts selected Georgia linebacker CJ Allen with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

Allen was nothing short of a superstar throughout his time at Georgia. The linebacker was widely regarded as one of the top remaining players on the board prior to the Colts selecting him, and Allen will enter his rookie campaign with some major expectations this season.

Colts’ defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo was recently asked to describe Allen with the first word that comes to mind. Anarumo went with “intensity.”

He then went into further detail in regard to Allen’s persona both on and off the gridiron, as the sky is truly the limit for the talented linebacker this season.

“You can see the energy in the guy and how that resonates to his game,” Anarumo said. “He’s all about football, he’s a gym rat, it’s all he cares about. So I think the sky is the limit for him.”

Allen recorded 205 total tackles, 13.5 TFL, and 4.5 sacks across three total seasons at Georgia. In coverage, he recorded 10 pass deflections and one interception.

The rookie linebacker is expected to emerge as a starter on the Colts’ defense as soon as Week 1, which could include Allen wearing the green dot in Anarumo’s defense. He will look to put his abilities on full display over the course of training camp later this summer.
