It was a pretty big surprise when CJ Carr decided to play for Notre Dame, given his grandfather Lloyd was the coach of Michigan for 13 seasons.
It looked like neither grandson would play for the Wolverines. Tommy Carr had committed to Miami (Ohio). However, Michigan entered his recruitment late, and, on Sunday, the youngest Carr flipped to the Wolverines.
This shouldn’t be a surprise, considering Tommy Carr’s other offers were Iowa State, Rutgers and Wake Forest. When your grandfather’s team comes calling, even late in the process, it makes sense to pick up the phone. Carr isn’t ranked nearly as high as CJ was. He is No. 962 overall on the 247Sports composite.
It will be interesting to see how Tommy’s Michigan career plays out, as we will all be watching.
