Bring this little ball of fur home, help him overcome shyness and he will be your 'Buddy'

This fluffy boy is Buddy, a nine-year-old Havanese with a coat of brown, cream, and white. Buddy is a retired breeder and now deserves a loving family of his own. If you are a little on the shy side, then you will know exactly what Buddy is feeling. You need Buddy.

Here is a little of his history: when Buddy first came to his foster home, in the fall of 2024, he was so afraid of people that he quivered and was reluctant to leave the safety of his crate, even for dinner or water. Overtime Buddy has learned to trust his foster family and he will now venture out into the family living area and watch TV with them. Sometimes Buddy will even sit on a lap and allow himself to be pet. So far, Buddy still has not shown what his personality is really like, but with a home and family of his own, one that can accept him as is and show him love and patience, Buddy may blossom.

Buddy does get along with other dogs, but at this time does not interact much with them. Buddy does spend much of his time in his bed, which seems to be his happy place of security. He is gentle and is making progress on his house training. Since Buddy is not yet comfortable on a leash or tie-out, he needs a fenced in area when he is outside. Buddy is current of vaccinations, is heartworm negative, and had a dental cleaning in August 2024.

Buddy is a man of simple desires: food, water, a bed in his crate, tasty treats and a quiet not overly busy household. If you are willing to give Buddy your patience, love, and a permanent spot in your home, then don’t wait a minute longer. Contact his foster mom, Michelle, in Grand Rapids at 616-949-7813 or m.vangeest@att.net. Also, complete an adoption application online at secondchancesmalldogs.org/adopt/adoption-form. Buddy needs you.
