HARTFORD CITY, IN — A Blackford County man with a homicide conviction has now been found guilty of menacing another man with a tire iron.
A Blackford Circuit Court jury on Tuesday, Sept. 23, found 51-year-old Eric R. Creekmore, of rural Hartford City, guilty of intimidation, a Level 5 felony carrying up to six years in prison.
Creekmore was accused of running at a Hartford City man outside the victim’s Wabash Avenue home, “with the crowbar in hand, over his head … threatening to beat him,” according to an affidavit.
The events leading to the intimidation charge against Creekmore took place on Aug. 24, 2024.
Creekmore in 1996 pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter — a charge that stemmed from a fatal stabbing — in Scott County, Tennessee. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
After the guilty verdict was returned on Tuesday, Judge Brian Bade ordered Creekmore held in the Blackford County Jail to await a sentencing hearing later set for Oct. 15.
The judge conducted a hearing on Creekmore’s request to be released from jail on Thursday but declined to release the Blackford County man.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor Steve Sneed presented testimony that Creekmore, during an unrelated investigation, told a local sheriff’s deputy that he had “killed before and I’ll kill again.”
