Bedford's Clint Adkins wins 2025 Hardee's National Biscuit Baker Competition, gets $10,000

Clint Adkins, a longtime Hardee’s baker from Bedford, has been named the winner of the 2025 Hardee’s National Biscuit Baker Competition.

Known for his dedication and positive spirit — even while undergoing cancer treatment — Clint was one of four Hardee’s employees from across the U.S. who competed Oct. 16 in Franklin, Tennessee, for the national title and a $10,000 prize. The competition celebrates baking skill, teamwork and community values.

Adkins has been a baker at the Bedford Hardee’s, part of New Beginnings Restaurant Group LLC, since 2012. According to a news release from Hardee’s, he’s been battling cancer during the past year and recently completed radiation treatment. The release said, “Clint continues to work with a positive attitude and a great personality.”

Adkins first won local and regional contests before competing in the national contest. The final competition included Adkins, Tammy Getchey of Headland, Alabama; Amanda McIntosh of Dayton, Tennessee; and Martha Mahaffey of Jefferson, North Carolina. The second-, third- and fourth-place winners each received $2,500.

“Hardee’s biscuit bakers put the goodness into breakfast, and their dedication is felt in every fresh batch they bake before dawn,” said Tony D’Amico, president of Hardee’s. “This competition highlights their expertise and commitment to perfecting the golden color, the fluffy texture and the perfect taste of every biscuit. We’re proud to recognize these outstanding team members as they reach the final round.”

The Bedford Hardee’s is at 1510 16th St.
