The Indianapolis Colts have been attempting to trade Anthony Richardson for much of the offseason. But one NFL analyst believes there is another player on the team that the Colts should be looking to move on from.
Moe Moton of Bleacher Report recently highlighted one player that each NFL team should be attempting to trade. For the Colts, rather than picking Richardson, Moton went with cornerback Jaylon Jones.
“After a solid showing in 2024, logging 12 pass breakups and two interceptions while allowing an 86 passer rating in coverage through 17 starts, he’s fallen on the depth chart,” wrote Moton.
With the additions of Charvarius Ward and Sauce Gardner over the course of last year, naturally, Jones was squeezed out of a starting role. However, that process was already taking place during training camp, before Gardner was acquired, and even as the Colts navigated injuries at cornerback, Jones struggled to see consistent playing time.
Jones now finds himself in a very crowded position group once again. At the top of the depth chart are Ward, Gardner, and Justin Walley, while Jones will be competing with Cam Taylor-Britt, Mekhi Blackmon, Cameron Mitchell, and Johnathan Edwards for two to three roster spots.
If there’s a team that would be interested in acquiring Jones and his experience, the Colts do have the depth to move on from him if needed.
