Amazon CEO wore Indianapolis venue's shirt to 'billionaire summer camp'

Support for Fountain Square venue Hi-Fi spans across Indianapolis and beyond – all the way to the top of one of the biggest companies in the world, apparently.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy was spotted at the annual Allen and Company Conference in Sun Valley, Idaho – known as “billionaire summer camp” for the mass of business moguls it attracts – wearing a shirt from the venue. Jassy joined bigwigs like Apple CEO Tim Cook, former Disney CEO Bob Iger and Amazon executive chairman Jeff Bezos at the retreat.

Founded in 2014, Hi-Fi is one of Indianapolis’ signature independent music venues situated in the heart of Fountain Square. The stage and its outdoor annex host regional and local acts almost every night, usually featuring rock and alternative artists. “Stranger Things” star Finn Wolfhard, who just released a solo album, is set for a show at Hi-Fi July 28.

Jassy doesn’t have an immediate connection to Hi-Fi or Indianapolis. Venue owner Josh Baker told IndyStar that, as far as he knows, Jassy attended a show a few years ago and bought the shirt there. He’s been seen in public wearing it on a few occasions since then, according to a post on Hi-Fi’s website.

“Honestly, we think that’s pretty cool,” Hi-Fi wrote on its website. “There’s no partnership, sponsorship, endorsement or secret business deal. Just someone who came to a show and still wears the shirt.”

Jassy’s estimated $500 million net worth was enough for some e-commerce brands to see dollar signs from his Hi-Fi plug. A handful of apparel resale sites like Trendingnowe.com and CC Apparel Shop have listed the shirt under “Amazon CEO Andy Jassy Hi-Fi Indy” and marked it at around $25. Hi-Fi encouraged fans to snag the shirt directly from the venue’s merchandise link in its post.

Jassy’s clearest Indiana tie is his involvement in Project Rainier: a massive data center development in New Carlisle, a St. Joseph County town around 15 miles outside South Bend. Amazon initially estimated it would funnel $11 billion – a number the company now expects to exceed – toward an 18-building Amazon Web Services campus spanning around 880 acres. The data centers will train and run AI models, and the first facility opened in October 2025.
