INDIANAPOLIS — Alexander Rossi got help being lifted out of his car and over the wall in pit lane, hopping on his left foot, after his car caught fire and was smoking during the 93rd lap.
The car stopped at Kyle Kirkwood’s pit box, and Kirkwood’s Andretti Global pit crew was the one to help him out of the car.
He was seen sitting in Kirkwood’s pit box. He was cheered by fans as he received his crutches and walked back down pit lane.
IndyCar veteran and 2016 Indy 500 champion, Rossi has been seen on crutches a number of times since he was part of a multi-car crash during Monday’s practice session at IMS. He broke a bone in his right ankle in the crash.
