4 Monroe County roads to close this week for bridge work, paving

Portions of four Monroe County roads will be closed at times during the week of June 8 for bridge removal and replacement and paving. Eight more county roads will have lane restrictions that may cause delays throughout the week as well.

Rockport Road between Cockrell Road and Bolin Lane will be closed will be closed June 8 through Nov. 13 for bridge removal and replacement by CLR Inc. Detour for westbound traffic: Rockport Road to That Road (east of Ind. 37) to Victor Pike, cross Ind. 37 To Tramway to Rockport Road. Detour for eastbound traffic: Rockport Road to Tramway to Victor Pike, cross Ind. 37 to That Road, to Rockport Road. Contact Travis Hughes at 812-208-5875 for more information.

Woodyard Road from Curry Pike to Griffith Court will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, for paving.

Prather Road from Mount Pleasant Road to Bottom Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11, for paving.

Wampler Road from Sand College Road to Liberty Hollow Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, June 12, and Monday, June 15, for paving.

Advance notice of road closures

Mount Tabor Road from Brighton Road to Bottom Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, for paving.

Orchard Estates including Cortland Drive, Cider Court and Winesap Court will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, June 19, for paving.

Lake Monroe Drive from the cul-de-sac to Rush Ridge Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, June 22, for paving.

Nature Way from the cul-de-sac to Rush Ridge Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, June 22, for paving.

Molly Court from the cul-de-sac to Nature Way will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, for paving.

Rush Ridge Fork from end of county maintenance to Rush Ridge Road will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, for paving.

Rush Ridge Road from end of county maintenance to Ind. 446 will be closed 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, for paving.

Rhorer Road between Sare Road and Jamie Lane will be closed from about 600 feet west of Sare Road from July 6 through Oct. 2 for bridge removal and replacement. After that, work will continue with lane restrictions through Dec. 11. Detour for westbound traffic: north on Sare, west on Rogers Road to Winslow, south on Walnut Street Pike. Detour for eastbound traffic: north on Walnut Street Pike, east on Winslow to Rogers Road, south on Sare Road. 

Lane closures

Curry Pike between Ind. 48 (West Third Street) and Beasley Drive continues to have lane restrictions with traffic control 8 a.m.-5 p.m. through June 26. Full closures are not expected but there will be temporary lane closures under flagging conditions. If there are any questions or concerns, contact Billy Grinstead at 765-617-9856.

Woodyard Yard from Curry Pike to Griffith Court will have lane restrictions with traffic control 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, June 8,.

Brookwood Drive between Sycks and Rainbow courts will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, and Tuesday, June 9.

Chambers Pike between Old Ind. 37 North and Sparks Lane will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, through Thursday, June 11.

Bottom Road between Liberty Hollow Road and Mount Pleasant Road will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11.

Curry Pike between Ind. 48 (West Third Street) and Vernal Pike will have lane restrictions with traffic control 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11.

Duke Road between Knightridge Road and end of county maintenance will have lane restrictions with traffic control 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11.

Gross Road between Knightridge Road and end of county maintenance will have lane restrictions with traffic control 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, June 8, through Thursday, June 11.

Monroe County reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All closings are weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
