With offseason programs now behind us, we will be getting a jump start on our training camp preview by going player-by-player through the Indianapolis Colts’ 91-man roster.
Going alphabetically, up next is UDFA cornerback Johnathan Edwards.

2024 Season Review
Edwards brings added speed to the cornerback position, running a 4.42-second 40 time during the pre-draft process. After three seasons at FCS Indiana State, Edwards transferred to Tulane for the 2024 season.
There, he allowed a completion rate of just 54% and only 8.6 yards per catch on 26 targets, according to PFF. Quarterbacks had a passer rating of just 66.3 when targeting him. Most of Edwards’ snaps came as an outside corner, but he does have some nickel and box experience.
Edwards was a UDFA that the Colts really wanted. According to Sportrac, Edwards received $280,000 guaranteed, which among all UDFAs league-wide was the sixth-most.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season
Edwards joins a revamped Colts’ cornerback room with the additions of Charvarius Ward, Justin Walley, and Corey Ballentine. With that, this room has also become quite crowded with Kenny Moore, JuJu Brents, Jaylon Jones, and Samuel Womack also on the roster.
Given that important part of the equation, as of now, it’s difficult to see where Edwards’ opportunities could come from when it comes to making the final roster, which means landing on the practice squad may be the most likely outcome for him.
