The crash also injured three other people.

The crash, at 8:57 p.m. Dec. 18, involved a Chevrolet sedan traveling west on the highway that crossed left-of-center into the eastbound lanes, colliding with a Jeep, according to a report from the Ellettsville Police Department. A portion of the highway was closed for several hours.

Taylor Ferguson, 31, and Dustin Galyan, 38, both of Bloomington were transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Neither survived the injuries they sustained, according to Monroe County Coroner Jeff Hall. He is awaiting autopsy and toxicology reports for both, Hall said Friday.

The three people in the Jeep were injured and taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital in stable condition, the report said. Their names were not released.

Investigators with the Monroe County Major Crash Investigation Team responded to the accident, which remains under investigation.

Police request that anyone who witnessed the crash or has video footage to contact the Ellettsville Police Department at 812-876-2272.
