Which high school football team has the best helmets in Illinois?
One social media account is aiming to find out. The X.com account Illinois Football Project (@IL_FB_Project) is running online polls this month to find out which lid is best across the state. Each poll is illustrated with graphics created by the Missouri Helmet Project (@HelmetMissouri).
The Illinois vote began with 64 teams. As of Friday, the field is down to 24, with the second half of the Round of 32 now live. Three schools from the Peoria area won their Round of 32 matchups on Thursday: Tremont, Olympia and Princeton.
The iconic Fisher Bunnies helmet, which won a similar vote in 2020, was eliminated by Nokomis in the Round of 32.
