Weather pushes back IHSA baseball supersectionals one day

Two Peoria-area baseball teams will have to wait a day to play their Illinois High School Association supersectionals.

Because of rain overnight across the state, Brimfield/Elmwood and Putnam County will now play their games on Tuesday, June 9. Both teams were scheduled to take the field in their Elite Eight contests on Monday.

Brimfield/Elmwood will now face Ottawa Marquette at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Class 2A Peru Supersectional hosted at St. Bede. Putnam County’s Class 1A DeKalb Supersectional contest against Galena will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Northern Illinois University.

The East Peoria-Geneva game scheduled to take place as part of the Class 3A Geneseo Supersectional has been moved to Black Hawk College in Moline and still on for 6 p.m. Tremont will still face Armstrong in the Class 1A Bloomington Supersectional at Illinois Wesleyan University at 6 p.m.
