Toddler injured in shooting at Peoria apartment complex

Peoria police are investigating a shooting Friday afternoon at an apartment complex that led to the hospitalization of a 3-year-old boy.

The Peoria Police Department said that at 2:08 p.m., they received a report of a shooting in the 3400 block of West Fallen Oak Lane at Lexington Hills Apartments. When officers arrived, they found the boy with a single gunshot wound to his leg.

The child was transported to a hospital in stable condition. Police said that the circumstances behind the shooting remain under investigation, with no additional information being released.
