Statistical Breakdown: How Bears and Lions stack up before Week 2

The Chicago Bears will face the Detroit Lions on Sunday, where head coach Ben Johnson is looking to get a win over his former team in Week 2.

The Bears are coming off a frustrating 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, where Chicago blew a 17-6 lead in the fourth quarter. The offense was hot right out of the gate on their opening possession, but they stumbled through the remainder of the game, due in large part to pre-snap penalties and Caleb Williams’ inaccuracy. The defense, down three starters, held Minnesota in check for three quarters before finally allowing three touchdowns in the final quarter of action.

Meanwhile, the Lions are coming off a 27-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers, and the game wasn’t even that close. Detroit’s offense stumbled in their first game without former coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn, where Jared Goff and the offense failed to find a rhythm and the Lions defense had no answer for Jordan Love and Green Bay.

Here’s how the Bears and Lions stack up statistically ahead of Sunday’s matchup.
