Springfield's old Dew Chilli Parlor getting new life

SPRINGFIELD – After three years of sitting empty on South Dirksen Parkway, one Springfield business owner thought enough was enough, and to “Dew” something about the empty Dew Chilli Parlor building.

Pascual Corona-Galaviz, who owns several other businesses in Springfield, confirmed to The State Journal-Register on May 14 the old Dew Chilli Parlor at 2690 S. Dirksen Parkway would be transformed into Crowns Pub and Grill, serving American food fare and drinks.

Corona-Galaviz applied for a class D liquor license from the city at the May 12 committee of the whole meeting.

The new pub and grill will have a sleek modern interior with black and gold accents.

No official opening dates have been announced.

History of Dew Chilli

Dew Chilli parlor owners John Leskovisek and Mike Monseur have done quite a bit of moving in the past three years.

In January 2023, the parlor at 2312 Wabash Ave. closed after the lease ended. Shortly after in June, the South Dirksen Parkway location closed from derecho storm damage and never reopened.

In 2024, a new parlor was picked out at 21 Cotton Drive, taking the space of Godfather’s Pizza. The Chatham Dew Chilli Parlor is still open to the public.

Most recently, the business at 301 North Grand Ave. W. made the move to Prairie Crossing out on the west side at 4333 Conestaga Drive, farther away from the inner city and listing the 4,601-square-foot property on ReMax.
